changed out bars now bike dies just after starting

changed out bars now bike dies just after starting
Have a friend who just changed out from stock bars to mini apes, it's a 2004 1200 sporty carbureted.he had to change out to longer cables no other parts changed. Now he says bike will start and run for just couple seconds then dies he can restart it dies again any ideas to a direction of what he could have done in the swap to cause this or should we be looking at other causes......

Pinched or chaffed wire in the run/stop switch maybe? Possibly when the bike runs it shakes this wiring enough to cause the problem.

thanks I had told him earlier to check all wires closely he said they look good. I will get some time later this week to go check it out for him as he lives next town over.I will post once we know for sure
