Sputtering, dying and now not running
I have a 2005 Sportster XL883C. I've only had it for three months and have put 1000 miles on it. It has 14k + miles on it total. To begin with, it seemed to be lacking power. I had it serviced and examined, I was told everything was fine. Then it began sputtering and dying. Now it's chirping like it's misfiring when starting. It has to be kept revved up to run.
Talked to the dealer and they said they had replaced the crankshaft position sensor right before I bought it (1000 miles ago). Could this be it again? Is there a solution for this? I didn't find any shorts in the wiring. |

Is it setting any codes? Engine light on after a start for a few seconds?

Haven't taken it in, it's kind of far to a place to get codes read but the engine light doesn't stay on after start..

Have you checked the plugs and wires? Can you isolate it to one cylinder

Have you checked the fuel tank for debris/water?
