cleaning the gas tank and also storage question for winter

I have reason to believe that my tank has build up in it from sitting for quite some time. How do you go about cleaning it out and what products are reccomended. Also once I get the tank cleaned and put back together I want to store the bike because it is going to get too cold to ride. Should I fill it up and use a stabilizer or I have heard about emptying the tank and coating with oil? What options are there, I'll listen to anything. This is my first bike and I'm not sure how to "put it away for the winter
".

If you have reason to beleave it has build up and junk in it . Remove it from the bike to clean it out. If it is just old gas Sea foam or gunk will clean it very well. If it has Rust you will need to use a mild rust remover. It the rust is not to bad that will do if it is real heavy you may need to coat the in side of the tank after cleaning I have only seen this have to be done on bikes that were left in a barn for years.
Also if tank in in that condition may as well clena carb bowl the same way.
Then run a few tanks with sea foam mixed at correct level though it
Clean out the shut value and repleace fuel filter.
Storgae fill tank and use stabl or sea foam

How do you clean the inside of the tank? Spray with gunk or put seafoam in it, add fuel and swish it around and pour out? I'm very new to bikes. I got my first one and it looks great but, has mechanical issues. This is just one more kink I'm trying to work out but, I'm green as can be. Thanks!
