Re: 07 sportster

As this is your first HD go slow there is a lot of miss information and what people think are good ideas for a HD out there.
Also you own a Sporty so be sure to you keep that in mind when looking things up.
A Sporty is in a class all it's own and some of the maintance and services are different for it.
We have a few Experts on Sportys around here get to know them Hobbiit is a big Sporty fan and is a good source of info on them.
Research, research and do some more before you spend your money. Know what your doing why and what it should cost before you act.
With the help of this site and some basic tools learn to do your own services and save a lot of cash.
While I do support HD dealers, some are better than others. The one in your town while ok tends to bend the facts a bit in order to bring in money. If they are not giving you a true discount of 20% on items there are some other sources that will.
On ther other hand I beleave most indy,s shops are not that great. YOU are lucky over in West Salem is Hog Pastures that man is honest and very good at what he does stop in and vist when you get a chance, he has been there forever.

Welcome Bigdaddyscott - you will find plenty of info here as well as fellow HD enthusiasts and riders here to help you. By all means get some seat time on your ride and if you are thinking of doing routine or advanced maintenance an HD service manual is a must. Enjoy and ride safe!

There is nothing like the feel of a sporty opened up on the back roads. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do.

Re: 07 sportster

sporties are one of the few HD's i would own again and again come to think about it iam looking at a few sporty chops , 7000rpm 1200cc high compression with HO cams 100hp and 100ft/lbs in a bike that weight less than my BT engine and gear box (joke), with a good rigid frame and forks will be a great blaster.
have you had 883/1200?
when you become bored of the 883 if thats what you have had check out the 1200/1250/1450 engine conversions there as cheap as chips and will give the sporty enough kick to keep up with the big motors and leave in your wake thru the twisties.
