Only what's necessary to get to the dealer for a download assuming it's not 40 miles away or so.

Re: upgrade to stage 1 question

it had the slip ons on it when i bought it but i was getting the occasional popping on decel and big pop on accel. i figured it was trying to breathe more so i ordered a screaming eagle stage 1 air kit. i was gonna put it on and then rejet in a week or 2. it's a 97 so it requires a swap out of the jets. i feel like i'm stuck in the middle. any advice?

Re: upgrade to stage 1 question

popping is usually a lean condition or an air leak somewhere on the exhaust system.
make sure your headers are tight at the heads and that there is no leaking at the slip on joints (tell tale is black soot and discolouration), to check put on a leather glove and seal the end of the exhaust.
you may want to change the gaskets at some point also.
To check for intake leaks get the bike running and spray WD40 or carb cleaner at the inlet manifold were it enters the heads a change in idle means an air leak.
do this 1st before swapping out the air cleaner.

Re jetting isn't that difficult. Take a look here, while these apply to a twin cam, it's the same thing for your evo.
