Saddle bag recommendations

I'm going to need to get some saddle bags or similar type of storage for my bike. I see there are about a million or so options out there, so I thought I draw off the experiences of y'all.
My ride is a 2004 Fat Boy.
What would you recommend? I think I want to stick with leather, so I'm wondering about build quality, capacities, durability and how they look on the bike.
If there is a better option than the saddle bags, let me know. I currently use a large backpack lashed to the sissy bar.
I mainly want them for running to the store or any other errands I can run on my bike. I use the backpack to carry my scrubs, lunch, and jacket to work.
Thanks for the input.

Re: Saddle bag recommendations

I have Ironbags on order for my Road King, replacing the stock Classic bags with a more nostaligic look.

Motorcycle Saddlebags, Toolbags, Luggage and More! Leatherneck Jim's - Semper Fi has a good selection of bags that are made in the U.S.A. That is where I got mine.. Heavy duty well made bags...

Re: Saddle bag recommendations

It is hard to use a bike for day to day work and runs to the store with out bags.
Leather type addons big enought for the job on a FB look scik IMO.
Small ones like I have don't hold a lot.
This option works well for me I even remove my leather bags most of the time.
This bag can be used mnay different ways. slips on and off in seconds weather you just use the small round bag, the main bag or both.
At this link likat the pictures of the trour master bag mine was 150 dollars when I bought it at HD dealer. This is some shots of a few of the ways I use mine. The file name explains how it is used in each shot. the top round bag can be detached.
In the main bag I can pack even my full size laptop. And a few day worth of stuff
The bag does not just lash on it is made to fit on bar then can be used or carried as a back pack. I ven use it to fly some times.

This is the leather bags on my FB I like them but the round bag on the tour master holds more. The bags are nice high quialty and look ok to me but just don't hold much.

Re: Saddle bag recommendations

Things Id look for in a leather bag.

1.I preffer soft bags vs. rigid as a softer bag will expand allowing for much greater storage.
2.Extra long straps.I never understood why my buddy's baggs had these until we set out on a trip and I saw him pack his baggs then strap his leather on the outside of the bag utilizing those straps.

smitty;
Have you ever dragged your bags in a corner? Just wondering because a buddy of mine bought a 2009 SE Road Glide that had extended bags, and at the corner in the rear was a chrome skid plate. Cool bike.

No I do not have extend bags on mine the FB I posted was to give a example of milwaukeebaggers work.
many do add a skip plate to them, While I admire a lot of thier work it is not for me
But I did find the hard bags intersting on the FB
On my FB I have the soft leather ones ana I use the tourmaster shown in the post above that one link.

Re: Saddle bag recommendations

I have leather pro bags on mine and they are great. They have a plastic molded insert in them and have leather outside. Very sturdy and easily detachable. Go to leatherpros.com and check it out.
