You can do anything you want it is your bike.
However I do not recomend cutting up or drilling stock pipes.
reason:
1. They are expensive if you need to replace them
And there are many reason you may want to retun the bike to stock pipes at some time down the road.
2. You need back presure for the bike to run right and it's best
Good slipons are designed for the job.
3. Slipons you know what level of sound you will get.
4. slipons are not that expensive when you comsider you get to keep your
stock pipes

I sure others will pop in with thier thoughts

Smitty has it covered.

Only thing he forgot is they sound really bad if you remove the insides or alter them.

Smitty,

Here is a dumb question, do the slipons go over the original stock pipes, if so, can you send me some pictures of some really good and loud slipons.

Slipons replace your pipes but keep stock headers.
You can look a round at the different one on the market and find a pipes you like.
A good way to see and hear pipes is to stop by dealers and look at used bikes.
I am sure if you ask for slipons sugestion from this site you will get at least 20 good ideas.
