update

So this yesterday we did a Craigslist thing and went looking... 1st stop an 883 hugger... pearl , windshield, bags...just what she wanted ...until she sat on it and realized just how top heavy it was... could see the disappointment in her eyes...2nd stop 1200c ...all stock except lowered shocks... owner was a first timer (just as short as my wife)...she sat on it an what a difference... lower center of gravity made it much easier to handle... BIG smile on her face...so she decided she wants it.... 2007 black <1200 miles...just a nice sporty.... will upload pics when we get it home....thanks all for your comments.

Re: update

very nice the C model has lowered rear shocks as standard and the flatter wider longer tank and the 21" front wheel alters the way the bike feels, it also has wider bars and forwards which again alters the way it feels, i love the C model can ya tell , plus it comes with loads of chrome as standard (cases, Rockers, Solid chrome edged rear wheel)

Re: Wifey got motorcycle license... now what bike?

My wife did the same. We found her a used Honda VLX, 1500 miles for 3,000. This is a light easy bike to ride. She rode it for 6 mos. and is ready for a Harley. My advice to her is to pick out 2 or 3 models like a Dyna, Heritage, and Softail Standard. Ride them and find the one she likes best. They can fit her to the bike by lowering it or a reach seat or combination. A friends wife lasted 3 months on a Sportster traded for a used Heritage and now you could not get her on a Sportster.

Re: Wifey got motorcycle license... now what bike?

The little woman is in the process of getting her license. She has sat on every harley and due to a a height impairment (lol) and short inseam she loved the height and balance of the 1200L, we looked at the duece and deluxe but she felt they were just to heavy and the seats are wider which impacted her putting her feet down. Plus the 1200L has a 17 litre tank versus the 12 litre on the custom. Width of the seat can be just as bad as the seat height for those who are shorter. Looked at the 105 anna and she found reaching the forward controls a little difficult.

Just have to remember there are many things that can impact a riders comfort and ability to handle a bike. Always check out all the options and then chose.

Okay here is first pic of wifey's sporty.... very clean

lowered rear shocks make it better height for her....but got to agree with Zamadan....many factors involved with choice of a bike...especially for small (short legged) women.....

Re: Wifey got motorcycle license... now what bike?

I took my girlfriend to Sturgis and we rode out on the bike. We had got to talking about her getting her license. Well by the time we got home from the trip she was wanting her own bike. She's 5'6 and we bought her a a softail duece which she loves dearly. To tell the truth.. so do I because I ride it from time to time
