Re: Syn 3 Motorcycle Lubricant
The first thing I do when I buy a bike is drain the HD oil out and run a top grade synthetic oil, not any HD oil products. Harley builds great motorcycles, but the don't make good oils. Just my opinion ringing in. Follow the links that Glider posted, you'll learn a lot....

Re: Syn 3 Motorcycle Lubricant
I have an 01 Night Train (88B) and I have used Mobile 1 since the first oil change. I use it everywhere execpt the primary. I was afraid that it was too slick and the clutch would slip. I live in LA (Lower Alabama) and as soon as I switched to Mobile 1 the bike ran cooler. You will certainly notice a difference when you first put it in the bike.
I hope this helps. |

Re: Syn 3 Motorcycle Lubricant

Re: Syn 3 Motorcycle Lubricant
75/90 GEAR OIL in the gear box, 20/50 (MOTORCYCLE MOTOR OIL) in the oil tank, and I use 10/40motorcycle motor oil in the chain case. All Mobil 1. Been doing that for years and never had a clutch slip. Works for me.

Re: Syn 3 Motorcycle Lubricant
I run Amsoil, 20W50 in the motor, 75W140 in the transmission, and regular primary lube in the primary and never had any problems.

Re: Syn 3 Motorcycle Lubricant
I tell you what, I know there are probably really good synthetic oils out there but I love Amsoil.

Re: Syn 3 Motorcycle Lubricant
I would not go with Amsoil. Mobile One is at least as good, and available anywhere at most auto part stores. With Amsoil you either carry all you might need or sit and wait for your order to come in. No thanks. Should be called scamsoil. (just kidding)

Re: Syn 3 Motorcycle Lubricant
walleye, I do not know where you live, but within 3 miles of me there are 2 places I can get Amsoil, and just about every aftermarket shop here that I have been in sells Amsoil.
