intake leak

intake leak

does a intake leak lead to a carbon buildup and would this make a spark plug have some black soot on it,It's only on the back jug thanks

Re: intake leak

Generally an intake leak will cause a lean condition in the cylinder effected and shouldn't cause carbon.
Check the other cylinder for the leak.
Carbon is usually a rich mixture if it is dry and fluffy and if wet and oily there is an oil control problem.

Had problems with intake leaks here in Florida I think its the ethanol in the gas eating up the rubber parts in our motors also check for proper alignment on the intake with new gaskets MOCO has a tool for it Good luck
