If you get a scratch on the denim it's hard to touch-up/ repair properly.

Black denim means more maintenance and harder to match when without doing adjacent assemblies to match. Even with same paint lot...

Since I'm not a fan of the denim paints,BLACK with about 8 coats of clear,hand rubbed between coats

Black denim is kind of the current fad in some things. It looks intresting on some bikes at first but IMO has no lasting appeal. For some reason the Black denim does not seem to go well with chrome when side by side with Black.
If I was going to have a Black denim it would be an all black bike I think.
Now they did offer one year a Dark Blue Denim SG that set aginst the black engine and chrome was a nice looking match
