Question Battery Removal

Hello,

I'm new to the group.
I have a 2007 fatboy.
I'm trying to wire in a digital clock.

This may be a stupid question but,
Is there an easy way to remove the battery?

Everything is packed in so tight around the battery and
I'm afraid I will break something or rip some wire(s) out.

Thanks, Albie

Re: Battery Removal

Thanks for the tips.
I'm still searching the self help.

The posting you pointed to about using substitute bolts for leverage
sounds good but it won't work in this case.

I can barely get the tips of my fingers on the battery.

They should have a plastic strap around the battery so you can just lift it up.

Anyway, still looking.

you could try something like this Amazon.com: Kastar B600 Heavy Duty Battery Carrier: Automotive if you can't lift it out. I Think it would work, but I've never tried it myself.

Re: Battery Removal

How about an old leather belt and run the bolts through it on the both battery terminals.

Please don't improvise here and use a piece of wire in place of the belt.

Actualy have a couple of Chevy/GMC forward fender cross braces for this.Got them from wrecks over the years.A little electrical tape and an extra sheet of heat shrink tubing has turned them into excellent battery pullers.
Disconnect the cables and bolt these straight up for handles.Works great.

No, the GM trucks have a cross brace to the core support since the late 80's.A stiff rod with flattened out ends to connect the fender to the core support with 13mm bolts.Realy a perfect handle for pulling a battery.
Because they flattened out the end and slotted it to except a bolt, you can use the origional battery bolt.

Each end is flattend to accept a bolt.Cut it in half and you have 2 handles to pull your battery.
