Re: Fatboy Service Manuals
I'm old, I like manuals in their paper form. I picked up my 04' FB service manual last week at the local dealer. $60......Well worth it to me.

Re: Fatboy Service Manuals
While I agree the HD factory manuals are the way to go, it does not discount the Clymer manual, it is NOT rubbish...! Any manual is only as good as it's contents and trust me NO manual is much much worse as it means NO RESOURCE or help. The Clymer one is abbreviated and while it certainly omits a lot of stuff, it combines information from all 3 manuals HD provides, and offers some troubleshooting, pictures and diagrams that are refreshingly helpful including a color coded schematic which is VERY helpful. And it is the one I pack when going on a trip in a freezer-loc bag.
![]() The HD Servce Manual of course, is the de factor standard; the HD Electrical Diagnostics manual which details the flow charts, lookup tables and "technical information" above the cursory remove and replace stuff is helpful and IS in some ways "military in its delivery" (I like it); and the specific model Parts Book with more detailed Bill of Materials and Part Identifier diagrams...yeah at $60 or so each they are a tidy sum, BUT a bargain from HD (well "less than hunerd dallah anyways)" Anybody price the OEM manuals from the big 3 for your car or truck...lets see typically 3-5 volumes at about $80 each...don't complain, the cost of ownership is one thing, the cost of service is something else entirely, but your ride will thank you for it!

Re: Fatboy Service Manuals
In bygone years when I would take on major auto rebuilds I would have on hand Clymers, Chiltons and any others I could buy or borrow. They all have something to offer and I have found tips in one and not in another. Remember the factory service manuals are for the pros and are in most case written that way. I have the Clymers in mind and may order it today at my local non HD dealer. If your gonna do some or most of the work on your ride, it is a cost of ownership. Just like a good lift or even a pro work stand and lift.

Re: Fatboy Service Manuals
I am glad I have the HD Service Manual, but I cannot express how much I would miss the parts manual. It gives you great exploded views (handy when the bike "lets go"...lol), and my parts counter people love it when I come in with part numbers written down.
