Road Trip to Central Cal.

Leaving early tomorrow from S. Oregon via I-5 & 99E to the Auburn, Ca. area to meet an OLD buddy, for a ride down CA49 to Yosemite then over to US395, up to Tahoe, back to Auburn. Then we split up & head home.

You will love Yosemite...if you camp there, do it away from the central valley...way too crowded, and much more relaxed. Check out the water in the steams, there is a glitter of gold in there that will surprise you, and plenty of nice roads and places to enjoy, and take plenty of pictures!

That's almost in my back yard. (auburn) sounds like a nice ride. Are you going around Lake Tahoe on the east side or the west side? the east side will have alot less traffic, and Casinos to try your luck. I live in nevada City which is 30 miles north of Auburn. I love to cruise south to hwy50 north to south shore Tahoe, then follow the east side of the lake to the north shore then cut over to hwy 80 south to home. We call the ride "going around the block" Drive save and be careful of the hwy 80 road contruction, large grooves and ruff road.

Re: Road Trip to Central Cal.

Yes ,you'll love the cruise on Hwy20 south off of hwy 80, and you will miss more hwy 80 road work. Just about a mile before you guys get into nevada city take the exit before 49/20 junction. turn left on Nevada St. go about 1/4 mile to Northridge of Nevada City, 773 Nevada St. great dinner and a place to wet your whistle. have a great trip, be safe. P.S. passing Nevada City and Grass Valley there are CHP speed traps. From the north of Nevada city, it's 50 mph,and threw grass valley it's 55 all the way to the bear river,(placer county line) then it's 65mph to Auburn.

Re: Road Trip to Central Cal.

We decided on Sonora pass instead of Yosemite & took 89 from 395 up to 49. Was a great trip!
