Re: Obama & your 2nd Amendment Rights

A President does not have the power to "fix" a Supreme Court ruling, nor can they amend the Constitution.

If you think that electing Obama, would take away your right to bear arms, then you've been duped. The second amendment is on solid ground, as no politician would attempt to abolish it. The NRA wants you to believe otherwise, so you'll continue to support them financially. It's all about the money.

You should be more concerned about the first amendment, as the media has become corporate driven, and no longer reports the news "fair and balanced". Just watching the commercials during the evening news should tell you who's dumbing-down America. Oil companies and pharmaceuticals want you to vote for McCain so you'll continue to "drill baby" and "ask your doctor if x is right for you".

"A primary object...should be the education of our youth in the science of government. In a republic, what species of knowledge can be equally important? And what duty more pressing...than communicating it to those who are to be the future guardians of the liberties of the country?"

George Washington

An educated electorate is what the establishment fears the most. Knowledge will keep you safer than any firearm.

Thanks for the heads up Sir;

Semper Fi

I honestly believe that if you go changing the 2 ammendment in any way There will be alot of trouble. You will end up making alot of honest people "outlaws" in the eyes of the law. Whatever we do dont make it harder on the ones that break the law just take the rights away from the innocent!!!

Doesn't matter who or what is on the supreme court, they can't overturn a Constitutional Amendnent. That can only be done by another Constitutional Amendment & that needs congressional approval & agreement by 2/3 or 3/4 (?) of the states. This idea that anyone can take away our guns is rubbish()

Re: Obama & your 2nd Amendment Rights

Point of information only...The President have a role in the formal amendment process (though he would be free to make his opinion known). He cannot veto an amendment proposal, nor a ratification. This point is clear in Article 5, and was reaffirmed by the Supreme Court in Hollingsworth v Virginia (3 USC 378 [1798]):

The negative of the President applies only to the ordinary cases of legislation: He has nothing to do with the proposition, or adoption, of amendments to the Constitution. Not a point of argument....just posting for information for both sides...

Great info! But there are some that don't want to know the real info. All they can see is what the political machines put out to the public. They are easily motivated to "knee jerk" reactions...

And that is what the people that make these claims are hoping will happen.

Again, the old saying is true... Knowledge is power.

Re: Obama & your 2nd Amendment Rights

Obama does not want to take your guns away! I've always been a Dem and always owned guns. I shoot once a year (at least) with the Democratic Liutenant Governor of my state. Don't believe the NRA. Only very radical people want guns outlawed.

I am also anti-abortion by choice. I'm proud that I live in a country where I'm allowed to make that choice myself.

I have a pregnant 17 year old daughter and I can tell you this: Sarah Palin is not going through what I'm going through.

Re: Obama & your 2nd Amendment Rights

Your missing the point it has been going on for years the Suprem court rules on what The Constitution means or ment to say. So all you have to do is get 5 to go your way it is changed right then and there.
The last case that was so important to gun owners was close and Oboma did say the would fix that.
So your amendment process is right out the window if you can get he Court to go your way.
And Oboma is and always has been anti gun the Dems are just being real quiet about it thia time the learn quickly.
