Re: Obama...

Wow, I made the mistake of checking out this thread just out of curiosity. Definitely NOT why I hang out on this forum. I consider you all to be my friends and certain topics must be treated with kid gloves if you wish to remain friends, just too many emotions involved.

OK, back to reading about Harley's!!!

Glider I repect you , however I know what he and his friends said about my soldiers. it was lies and he knew it and never tried to retact it foir that there is no forgetting.
I lost some darn good soldiers in part because people like him made it hard for them to do thier job and gave the outher side hope.
But the press will never cover any of that.
You yourself know that if a member of congress wants to meet with any soldier or group of them the ARMY is required to make it happen anytime any were with out delay. Public does not know that. He lied agin when he said he was prevent for visiting wounded soldiers. If his statement was true The IG would be locking up a lot of people.
You lost a dear friend over there as a contractor we lost some fine young men and fathers.

Smitty

You'll never hear me disagree with those (your) views about the services and the people in them, but remember one thing here, these are POLITICIANS, which in my book aren't worth the powder to remove them from the earth collectively. Toss in most lawyers too and the world would be a better place.

I've always maintained that people don't go into politics just for the "fun " of it, they have an agenda to further.

Re: Obama...

I've always said that even if someone goes into politics for all the right reasons, the mere act of becoming a "politician" inevitably changes them. I pretty much despise all politicians equally so election time is no fun for me - always forced to choose the lesser of the evils.

Oh, Glider, I might add car salesmen to your list!

Have to agree there for the most part, except I found one where I buy all my cars every other year that is VERY different in that respect. It's about an hour away so we go out for lunch and then to the dealer for the finalization and a new ride home.

I call him up when I am buying my new car after researching the trade in value and their invoice of the new car. I offer him 1K over their invoice and add about $7-$9 hundred above the trade in value on my trade in which is usually very low miles and without a ding. My last trade in when right on the showroom floor and sold the following day.

He asks when I want it, which is usually "tomorrow morning" if it is in stock and I drive in, he swaps plates and takes the check, shakes my hand and thanks me very much after updating me on any changes in that same model and I leave with a big smile on my face.
I just love to do business with this guy and have bought my last 6 cars this way.
At first he tried the usual salesperson approach so I let him finish and ran this by him. He hesitantly accepted and we get along great now 6 cars later.

Re: Obama...

that's the way to do it Glider...when buying a new or used vehicle once you let the salesman lead you around you become a sheeple and are at his mercy...they don't make a dime if you walk away...my Dad was a used car manager at a Chevy dealership, off and on I worked as a porter for him and watched the business as well as the people...the last new truck I bought (1999) I went to Autobytel built my truck on paper. printed it including the invoice price, took it to the dealership, told them this what I want and this is what I'll pay...1k down to order it, 5 months later I got that truck...in the mean time the salesman called me 4 times with a not-so comparable truck (which he would have made more $) of course they knocked 2k off the trade-in value (5 months...remember) it seems they really depreciate big time in the 5 months it took to get my truck...

Re: Obama...

To whom it may concern, there are many U.S. military personnel that will vote for a common sense candidate like Obama. Many combat veterans see the real deal with Iraq, and Bush's little war. More every day.
Listen to both sides and make a choice yourself- don't let Rush Limbaugh, Savage, O'Reilly or Hannity make up your mind for you.

Re: Obama...

Newbie here....was actually surprised to come on this site and find a political section

I generally stay out of political discussions with anyone since that is one area that can touch a nerve that you didn't realize people had. But our current times and conditions have called for Americans to get more involved with the people that are supposedly representing our best interests. And as we have seen recently, all the sudden these dirty politicians are getting exposed left and right for some of their shortcomings that we generally wouldn't know or care about.

I'm just happy to see Americans finally wanting to do something about the oppressive zombie'like mindset we have been in for so long. No matter who is in office, their job will be scrutinized more than any president in history and we are finally going to start holding some true accountability for our "leader" cause Americans' are really sick of all this (EDITED).

Thats my non-biased take

Re: Obama...

I thought this was a BIKER web site. I have very strong political views too (similar to Smitty 901 - after all my son is 82nd Airborne! and I'm old enough to have been a "Goldwater girl" I think we should keep our politics out of this particular site and stick to life's important dicisions like - what kind of fuel, new seat, handle bars, important things like that.
"screw it , let's ride!"
