Isn't it sad to watch what is happening in our schools? Where do you place blame? Parents, video games, violence are all great scapegoats but who is to blame when an adult walks in and starts shooting up the schools?

Another incident today in Orange Co Fl. Local School on lockdown with one student grave condition after a fight ensued and one student stabbed another. I'm afraid this is never going to end.

This is really sad and sickening and sometimes you just don't know who to blame. I mostly blame the gov for putting the breaks on parents deciplining their own children. You can't spank your kids when they do bad, but yet put them in electric chair if they kill someone?

Re: Dang kids and Guns

I'm starting to think that some of the blame needs to fall on the schools. They are not taking the neccesary precautions to make kids safe. Two days ago a kid got stabbed in school by another student over a GIRL. Do all schools need to have metal detectors??

All I know is that when I was in high school probably half the students had rifles or shotguns in the "easy rider" rifle racks in the back window of their pickup trucks. Most carried pocket knives from grade school on. Never a threat to shoot someone and the most violence done was mutually arranged fist fights off campus after school. Strangely enough we also said th pledge of alliegence each day and the Lord's prayer.

Re: Dang kids and Guns

I've had full and free access to any gun that I ever wanted since I was 12. The fact is that school violence is actually down. The issue is the media covers it now, they seem to cover what goes wrong more than what goes right. The school shootings are tragic, but blaming guns, video games, t.v. etc, is just creating a scapegoat for the real problem. Those people were sick, and all the signs were probably there, just no one noticed. The fact is the media seems blow things out of proportion because bad news sells.

Just my opinion.

Amazing, to see this view over in the states as well. The trouble starts at home, with the bloody parents!!!! My wife is a teacher, and has been told countless times to "get (edited) by kids as young as five, behaviour they learn at home, not at school and threatened by violent cowardly, normally drunk, male parents who yell at her they'll knock her head off!!! The last incident, she dared chastise some little bully who blackened a much younger fellow pupils eye. The police were called to restrain the idiot parent.

hali, in this country, Australia, the teachers hands are tied. We have taken your countries lead here, with teachers being threatened to be sued, my wife included, by lowlife parents, ....what a great system that is, as well!!!!

I'm really sick of seeing schools blamed for violent behavior by kids. Try blaming bad parenting for a change!! I see how hard my wife and the majority of her fellow teachers work, thank christ they don't have guns to contend with here as well!!

End of rant!
