What Lubricant Do You Use?

Browsing through my service manual getting ready for the 5,000 mile service. It says to lubricate brake/clutch controls, jiffy stand, fuel door, and saddlebags (hinges I'm assuming.) What do you guys use for this? Quick squirt of WD40 do the job?

WD 40 not a good idea ,ok to clean parts up lose rust but no real lube coating left behind IMO.

Prisim in a spray can, stuff id "thicker" than WD40, seems to stay on the cables OK. Aircraft mechanics use it on control cables.

For the cables, door, hinges I use Motion Pro cable lube. For the jiffy stand-GM spray grease(had a can layng around).
A motorcycle acessory store should a varity of cable lubes. For the other stuff, any good lube will work.
I would only use WD40 in a pinch.

Re: What Lubricant Do You Use?

Thanks everyone - I'll leave the WD40 in the laundry room for general household use then!

Dri-slide is good, but can be a bit messy. I have used "LUBIT" with teflon. It is sold at most H-D dealerships under the part number 94968-85TV @ $4.95.
Temp range use is from -60F to 500F.

Our technicians use it here at our dealership. Good stuf!
