Re: buell

I have a 1999 S3T Thunderbolt that is a great bike. I get 65 mpg driving responsibly. I have ridden 700 mile days.

The reason I bought this one was because it has the 1200 Harley engine. I don't really consider the new engines to be Harley proven.

It has had a few of the Buell problems but I have managed to maintain the bike myself. I have 40000 miles on it.

My bitch is it has no resale value, but was a very expensive bike in Canada, msrp was $21000. plus taxes.

I also have a 2000 Electra Glide that I love to ride.

Re: buell

well i have joined the ranks of Buell ownership and what bike for those that dismiss them off hand look past the prejudice and try one, just like people turn their noses up at HD why does every one turn them up at Buell.
it has a few faults that i will be able to fix like shaking itself to bits the inability to service it without a huge pile of parts on the floor

Re: buell

Are Harley enthusiasts elitist? You hate Buells because they're a travesty of a
H-D; and you hate 'Rice burners' because they're not American. How about them British bikes or those pesky Germans?Me? I love MOTORCYCLES.
So what if Erik's bikes are a bit eccentric. So are H-D 's to sport bike riders.
And sports bikes likewise to touring riders.
If i could afford it,i'd have one of each in my garage.I've come to enjoy Harleys later in my life, but i sure as hell enjoy the adrenalin rush of a'Riceburner' tapped out in third gear and the front wheel skipping off the ground.
I used to hate Harleys!Too big;too cumbersome;too expensive;too prone to
breakage and too slow.Things change and now i can almost have it it all.

Feel free to shoot me down and abuse me.

Re: buell

I do not hate other bikes i just respect HD.
Hd has held off unfair trade for 60 plus years has stuck around despite many years of cheap junk other put on the market untill they made some money and started making some better bikes.
And I would much rather my money go to some worker in my home town than japan.
And don't give me that my GW is made in america bull. Sweat shop labor and they don't pay squat.
plus every part comes from some other counrty.
my money goes to HD

Check into just how many HD parts aren't made in America! (Both accessory parts and original parts assembled in the factory)
