Changing Harley Oils

Here's a great link posted by "biscuit" that will show you how to do the oil changes on Harleys.

HOW-TO TWIN CAM HARLEY ENGINE OIL CHANGE
Please be aware that the author is suggesting 15/50 Mobil car oil that is not for air cooled engines. Use an oil that is designed for air cooled engines like Mobil 1 V Twin oil 20/50.

Re: Changing Harley Oils

Again Glider great information for a starter. I have a 1500lb. lift I bought basically for winter storage. Would you reccomend doing these types of fluid changes on the hoist or off the jiffy stand?

Re: Changing Harley Oils

Your lift should handle all the services above without a problem. In a pinch, it can be done on the jiffy stand.

Glider, what are your thoughts on using M1 car oil instead of M1 V-twin oil?

Car oil is not proper wieght and does not have additives needed for a large Air cooled VTWIN
M1 vtwin 20/50 is a fine product
Nice bike but I do have a thing for 96 FB

You're right, I missed that, looks like 15/50....NOT in my bike.

I edited the post at the top.

Thanks for bringing that to my attention.
