Bought a used 03 Screamin Eagle Road King with the 103 from a local dealer a couple years ago. He told me all the lube in it was synthetic...and if I went back to regular oil he would find me and burn my garage down with the bike in it. Good enough for me! No problems.

There is Nothing wrong with Dino oil, I have logged enough miles to know, and have built enough motors to stand behind this statement JMHO

Re: Synthetic Oil Change POLL

Just a side note to all you synthetic users.

Make sure your oil is blended with a Group IV or Group V base stock, both of which are synthesized or man made.

If you synthetic oil comes from a Group III base stock, this is just nothing but a highly refined petroleum product.

My .02.

CORRECT......

Many don't know this.

MY choice is Redline synthetic... Redline is "One" of the Very FEW that have a group V rating...

Bought my '02 Hugger with 12,300 miles on it. Previous owner had used HD 20W50 Dino and Formula+ in the primary/trans. I've stuck with it and change both every 5000. I've got over 30,000 on it now. The Dino does the job and I like the cheaper price.

Both Group IV and Group V are 100% synthetic.

I believe that Redline is the only Synthetic oil company that uses Group V as their base oil. Other companies use Group V but only in small amounts for the additive package. The industry as I know it considers Group V to be a medium for blending additives. It is not considered base stock oil except by Redline.

Using a Group V as your base oil stock is a different approach but I wouldn't say it is better. Being the only company that does it makes them different.
