Duh!!!

But I'm thinking of switching to this Spectro Six speed.
I can't find it in Canada yet.

What's it like on corn?
I find the butter does not provide the viscosity needed to keep it from running down onto my elbows while turning the corn at high speeds.

Re: Trans Oil Poll

I am using RevTech. Not sure what weight. I am very pleased with smooth trans shifting and disappearance of 5th gear noise. Maybe it just needed to be broken in, but it doesn't sound bad in 5th anymore.

Re: Trans Oil Poll

I am planning to change my tranny/primary lubricant of my 883 sportster 98, 26000km on the clock. I dont know which oil I have in it now but I want to put the best oil that I can find in the market.
spectro is not selling here in Turkey. I am not so sure but I guess that I can find M1 75/90 or 75/140.
2 questions;
*is the difference so huge btw spectro and mobil1? shall I order spectro from abroad or just go ahead with M1?
*if M1, 75/90 or 75/140? did anybody test both M1s?

I've used the 75/90 and 75/140. It's hard to tell a difference between them. The major differences would be in a hotter climate where the 75/140 would protect better.
I also can see a noticable difference using the Spectro over the M1.

Re: Trans Oil Poll

Not sure of your rating system here but I would go for the Spectro over the M1 even if I had to drive to the other side of town to get it.
As far as the HD oil, other than the standard 360 oil they sell which is a good product for what it is I wouldn't even use it myself.

I do not think I would lose anyt sleep over havinbg used sny3. It is a good oil just not the best. In the tranmission I do not think I would want any engine oil no madder what brand.
The Spectro Plarium for 6 speeds works great the new six speeds and Baker recommends it, for thiers.
For 5 speeds Redline shockproof is a fine product also.
Any of the 100% true SNY gear lubes will serve you well in a 5 or 6 speed.
Bel ray really was for boats, with all this flooding and rain this year you might be on to something

Re: Trans Oil Poll

Ok. Glider is right (as usual)
I went from dealer lube, whatever that was, to M1 75/140, to Amsoil severe gear. There was no noticeable diff between any of them really except going from what I think was the Syn3 to the M1. It did quiet down some. I recently went on a trip to Florida and the fine folks at Millers HD in Daytona were kind enuf to turn me onto some of their private stash of the Spectro 6 speed gear lube.
Night and Day Glider. I poured that quart into the Dyna and went for a ride. Apart from the initial drop into first clunk when cold, the shifting bangs have all but gone away. The Spectro is really top notch - good thing I bought 3 quarts.
