Re: Trans Oil Poll

I told the parts guy at my local Harley dealership that I was going to use Bel Ray in my transmission and he looked at me like I had a booger. He said that Bel Ray was too thick and it would cause my gears to wear. I have used Harley Synthetic in all three holes since.... Looks to be time for a change.

Sounds like the typical parts guy, knows little about much. Use a gear oil in the trans.

Re: Trans Oil Poll

Dumb question, but I want to be sure. I should use the gear oil in the chaincase side also?

I'm using the mobil 1 75/90, is the spectro realy a better oil or is it that the 75/140 is a better weight to run in the trans. ?

Re: Trans Oil Poll

Either will work fine depending on the temps you ride in. I prefer the Spectro after using both.

Re: Trans Oil Poll

I just wanted to add here that for any of you N.W. Indiana riders North End Cycle in Elkhart carries the full line of Spectro oils at a reasonable price

Re: Trans Oil Poll

Just switched to Spectro 6-spd and noticed a big difference, smooth shifting, less clunking, quieter/quiet 5th gear. Thanks for the advice.
