Re: Trans Oil Poll

My 1000 mile service will be next week. SPECTRO Heavy Duty 6 speed Platinum is on the way! Never tried it, been a fan of Mobil One Gear lube. I still use Mobil One in the crank but will try this as recommended. I am looking forward to seeing hopefully good results. Hard to go away from what has worked, but this is my first 6 speed and the experienced members have spoken! LOL!

Your bike will thank you . Nothing wrong with M1 products it is just the Spectro is designed for the six speed. M1 like many others have failed to keep up with the changes in your bike.
Spectro Platium 20/50 engine oil is a 100% sny that also works very well for the big HD twin. M1 20/50 for vtwins is a great oil but the Spectro is a better motorcycle engine oil. I noticed right away that the Spectro engine oil quieted down the engine noise that is common with sny engine oils.
I also beleave the REDLINE products are very good way to go also.
Once you get down to REDLINR, M1 and Spectro your in a close race just that Spectro comes out in front.

Thumbs up Re: Trans Oil Poll

I've been using Syn 3. Based on the comments I would like to try the Spectro but it's not available locally. Guess I will try to locate some Mobil 1 75/90. Thanks for the good info.

Re: Trans Oil Poll

Spectro Platinum Heavy Duty GL-1. Replaced the Syn3 that was in the bike when I bought it. Much smoother up shifting, not so much on the down shift.

Thanx for the suggestion!

Now running:

AMSoil SAE 20W-50 Synthetic Motorcycle Oil (MCV) - engine
Spectro SAE 85W Heavy Duty Primary Chaincase Oil - primary
Spectro SAE 75W-140 Heavy Duty Platinum 6-speed Transmission Oil - transmission (SE 6-speed)

OK, here is some data for you folks that like that stuff. Just changed all the lubricants this past weekend. Transmission gear oil had 3,510 miles on it since the last change. Here is a picture of the plug straight out of the pan, and cleaned up. Very, very happy with this! This tranny still has less than 5k miles on it.

TQ
