Re: Engine Oil Poll

I use Mobil 1 Synthetic 20/50 (V-Twin) in The Crankcase, Trans, and Primary. I have a 2008 FLHX (As you can see by my username). Living in Southern California, I've found that this works really well in my machine.

The first 10,000 miles of the machines life it had Syn 3 in it, and I noticed a lot of Trans whining in 5th and 6th Gears. With the Mobil 1, this whining sound is gone, the shifting is smooth, and the valve chatter is much less noticeable at 2500-3000 RPM.

Anyone have similar luck with the Syn 3 junk that HD pushes like crack to addicts?

Re: Engine Oil Poll

Does anyone else use the Fram Oil Filter PH6065A on their HD? I have heard about it being exactly the same as HD's "Premium Chrome Oil Filter" that costs an arm and a leg?

I used it on my 2002 XL883R, but I haven't gone there with my 08 TC yet. Anyone else have an opinion?

Re: Engine Oil Poll

Use what was made for the bike by the manufacturer of the bike. There are manufacturing differences in the other brands.

Take a look here.

Re: Engine Oil Poll

Not the same is an aftermarket will fit. IMO to risky to run anything but the correct HD filter for your bike. There are other places to save a few cents the oil filter is not one of them.
Here you will find a lot to read up on subject from amny points of view

Re: Engine Oil Poll

New to this forum, but figured in for a penny, etc.
HD filter
Mobil 1 V-Twin in engine
Formula + in primary
Mobil 1 synthetic gear lube in tran till I can get the Spectro 6-speed GL5 stuff.

Glider, here's a site that for me explained engine oil and whatnot so even I could almost understand them.

apparently I can't post links and such because I haven't talked enough on the forum. YES, this is a (edit) to the admin side. My opinion says this is a stupid practice. Someone might just have something nice or important to the members of this site and won't be able to actually post it in its link form.

My opinion only. Thanks for all the good reading. I don't post just to post, only if I feel it could help
Thanks again for letting open my big mouth. Probably get my (edit) in trouble.
