Re: Oil Coolers
Hoop, now you see why Jagg & HD coolers are such a good deal at only $250 USD, no moving parts...just plug and play and your done. Being in military & industrial electronics design, I really dislike fans and electrolytics and consider them only as a necessary evil if I have to use them...!

Oil cooler is a want not a need or must do. Adding a good basic one like the HD or jag is not a bad idea and affordable. Any thing beyond that that is a waste of money

Re: Oil Coolers
I have to agree with smitty, a cooler is a want item, not real necessary but nice to have and gives piece if mind, like a oil temp guage another want item.
Come to think of it the Harley isn't necessay either just another want. kemo |

The oil cooler I put on mine was not because I needed it but was bored in the winter and though it was a project that would keep me busy for awhile. Turned out to be so quick and esy it killed very little time The Hd one is not to expensive and easy to install so if it won't breake the bank or take food from the kids it not a bad idea.

few if any ever ride in hotter weather or log more miles than I do. Far worst than a long ride on a hot day is riding in something like the 105th or other big rally like it. The need for an oil cooler has never been a issue. I have no problem with oil coolers and every owner has the right to put what ever kind or as many as they want on thier bike. What I will try to do is provide facts to newer owner that get caught up in this you have to add a oil cooler and stage 1 to ride your Hd, just not true. I will agree that if you have the cash it is one of the better add ons you can do if for nothing else peace of mind and resale some how an oil cooler is an attaction at resale. It is alos one of the mods you can do your self with few tools and little time. It can be a bonding experance with your bike and help convince you that you can do more of the work yourself. Oil cooler on it best day under prefect condition will only drop oil temps about 20 degrees. While it is some it is so small it is hard to measure.

![]() My 1989 FLHTCU Suffered greatly in the heat (105 to 112 degrees with ~4% humidity) while driving around the Phoenix city this summer. On the kind of days when I would have been warned NOT to park on asphalt during the heat of the day as the jiffy stand might sink and you will come out to find your bike on it's side. However, after adding a 10 row Jagg cooler, WOW what a difference. Previously, I would have to abort a trip if I had to sit still in traffic for just a few minutes. Now, NO problem, I don't even think about it!!! ![]() Quote:
