Smile hi from a lurker & respect 2 u guys

Hi one and all.

OK, in way of introduction I guess I should give a little of my vitae...
I hail from the UK, 52 and married with 2 grown up offspring, Jr who is 22, at home and into custom cars, Our daughter who is 19, does NOT live at home, and has just made us grandparents for the first time!! Lordy lordy...

Like many here I guess, was exposed to motorcycle's at an early age.
My father was a keen biker in his youth, but got sidelined, as many of us do i guess ... He got back into bikes again when I was about 9? Needles to say, as soon as i was legally able, I bought my own bike.

Whilst in the merchant, saved and bought a Vincent comet off my father [500cc], attached a monza sidecar and passed my test. If you have never driven a motorbike and sidecar, it's a *unique* experience and although enjoyable, and certainly holds great memories, wouldn't rush to drive one again
Goes without saying, the same day I passed my test, other than taking the L plates off, I went about getting the chair off and setting up for solo. Was in a position to purchase a 'white' shadow engine from my dad, [right time right place, plus a few shekels from being at sea] fitted said engine into comet frame, or should i say attached the frame members to the 1000cc plant.

Other than the Vincent, had the humble pleasure and privilege of also being the custodian of amongst others, a BSA lightning, TriBSA special, an AJS, a kwaker 650 x4 [amazing cycle ] and a Laverda [Jota]

In 79 I bought my first 'new' bike, this after many years of the associated hassles & anxiety of ole brit steel [don't you love em ]
I went for was a Harley FXS , I *think* it was one of the first 80" er's imported into the UK?? but would not put money on it . As is the way of things, all that fun had a price, met what was to be my second wife, a child on the way, hardship beckoned, so painfully Harley had to go..
Now the offspring are [nearly] on their own feet, kind of got to thinking I'd like to get another Harley. Am disabled, but damned if I'm going to let that get in the way of aiming to get on a cycle again
Full respect to the good people who contribute to this forum.. the wealth of information contained is a godsend, amazing..
Apologies for being a 'lurker' and on the side for so long without introducing myself

Bill

Thanks H , yep, going to do my best to get back on the road asap, and when able .
As is the way of things [] waiting on 'agencies' & 'legal people' at the mo

Thank you, thank you..... and will do
This gives me the opportunity to thank you personally for all the tech info you have generously posted in forums Glider. It's most altruistic, yet at great sacrifice to your time, but it's sincerely most most appreciated

kind regards & atvvb
Bill
