What I find to work the best is using a damp sponge and a liquid wax (Fast Wax by Presta) take the bugs right off and leaves it clean and beads up in the rain. Note: paste wax in a can will not work it might but I wouldnt try it.

Re: cleaning plastic winsheild
Hello, In my opinion the BEST and ONLY thing I use on my windshield is Novus 1 Plastic Clean and Shine. It also is a "No Fog" polish and it buffs up perfect. I never ride without cleaning first. If you do have a few sticky bugs that seem hard to remove I take a HOT wash cloth and just let it sit on there a few minutes and they come right off. I must say the Novus kinda keeps bugs from sticking so I never really have that problem. I just spray a light mist on and buff with a very soft cloth, never a paper towel! I gave two of my best friends a bottle and they were shocked how great it worked. Moose

I use Meguiar's PlastX. It wipes on and off easily, removes bugs and will remove minor scratches. I use it about twice a week and my windshield looks new.

Re: cleaning plastic winsheild
I use Pledge on my dirt bikes and it works great. But, I have found after using it on goggles visors and windshields that is leaves a minor residue. This can be annoying in the sun.
I started using Plexus on my optics and wow, what a difference, nice and clear. They designed Plexus to use on Lexan Race car windshields and aircraft windshields, so I now use it on all my shields and well worth the money. No residue at all and after you give it a little buff job after application, nice and clear. The bugs clean off easier too. Pledge is ok and I used it for years, until Plexus came into my life... |

Re: cleaning plastic winsheild
I still prefer to use wax and polish on my Harley too, just like doing the work I guess.
Pledge is sure great for the dirt bike though. |

I 've used just about everything trying to get the water to flow off of the wind shield during a storm and to get those little bugs off.
Pledge - works good. Honda Spray Cleaner & Polish - does a good job & comes in a small can. Slip Streamer Cleaner & Polish - a good job on wind shields and face shields, and comes in a small can. Gator454 |

Works like a charm, Bounce dryer sheets are the ticket. Wet em, gentle wiping and rinse, rinse, rinse. These sheets incorporate an anion surfactant which breaks the bug guts glue (lovebugs, anyone in the south knows). I then follow with pledge.

Re: cleaning plastic windshield
Although I rarely use water on my bike, unless it really has some actual "dirt" on it, (I try to keep it clean and waxed well enough that a simple wipe-down is all it ever needs), the windshield is my one exception.
I get a bucket of hot water, (not boiling, but as hot as the tap will run), and take a soft towel and soak it in the hot water, then wash the bugs and any other dirt off the windshield with it, drying that and any water that ran off onto the bike with another clean and dry soft cotton towel. My windshield is as clear as the day the bike was new, and I attribute that to no chemicals of any kind ever being used on it. JMHO, but I've seen the permanently fogged results of other's efforts using Windex and similar products, and I am also a "Pledge" convert, (once the bike has a good coat of a hard paste wax on it as a base), but for the windshield, water, and nothing else, ever, except for MAYBE one or two occasions where I felt that dirt had to have the use of a soap, and then I used an automotive detergent type soap in the water, but only a very small amount, rinsed very well afterwards with plenty of clear water. |

Re: cleaning plastic winsheild
I use liquid fabric softener. I take a rag and dip it some softer and dab it on, wait a couple of minutes and wash them away. Works great on chrome. I've been doing this for years..........
