In Memory of Roland J. Bishop

Conway, N.H. — Roland J. Bishop, 69, of Conway, passed away peacefully with his wife at his side on Monday, Oct. 12, 2009 at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center after a long illness.

Born in Lawrence, on Jan. 11, 1940, the son of Alfred J. and Marie Rose Bishop, he resided in Conway since 1975. He attended Saint Mary's Grammar School, and Lawrence High School in Lawrence.

He joined the United States Marine Corps in 1957. He owned and operated E-Z Welding in Conway from 1975 to 2006. After retiring in 2006, Roland along with his 'best friend' and wife, Becky, enjoyed many motorcycle trips to Sturgis, S.D., many annual trips for Rolling Thunder in Washington, D.C. and spent several winters in Florida.

Roland loved stream fishing and was an avid racquetball player. He was a dedicated supporter of the Conway Police D.A.R.E. Program. He was an active charter member of the Conway (HOG) Harley Owners Group, and the Rod and Gun Club in Conway. He especially enjoyed riding his Harley with his many, many friends.

He is survived by the love of his life, his wife, Becky, of 38 years; sister, Patricia Manning, of Conway; brother, Richard T. and Angela Bishop of Wells, Maine, brother, Edward and Theresa Bishop of Florida; several nieces and nephews; and his extended family of motorcycle friends. He is predeceased by his parents, and brother, Alfred J. Bishop, and his sister, Joan Buchanan.

Condolences to the family...their continuing to move forward is the true measure of what was accomplished in life to impact so many relationships in the short time he had here on earth...may he rest in peace.

Roland was an awesome person. He never gave up; I hope I have as much strength and courage as he.

RIP Roland. Hope you're where the sun always shines, there are no cages, no deer, no potholes and where the HD always runs sweet.
