Chris Fowlkes

Lost his life fighting for our country in Afghanistan. he had just turned 21
the Marines sent his body back to his family yesterday 9/16/09 there was a huge show of respect every over pass the Hurst went under was covered with AMERICAN flags every road the Hurst went down people lined each side with AMERICAN flags every business had there flags at half mast.....ALL BUT ONE! Bank Of America was afraid they might offend someone so they cleared the American flags off there lawn completely anyone with a flag had to go....guys this hurts deep inside.......a man just died for his country and all this bank can think about is "o no we may offend an illegal immigrant" this happened in my home town of Gaffney S.C. i still can't beleave it happened

Re: Chris Fowlkes

RIP Chris. BOA has some strange policies with the illegals. Not the first time I heard something like this about this bank.

My heart goes out to Chris's family and friends. If I had an account with Bank of America I think it would be time to switch.

R.I.P. Chris

Re: Chris Fowlkes

I'm a retired Marine who had the solume duty of escorting 2 fallen Marines home. I saw a lot of support from a lot of people. There will always be one or two who get it wrong, but that is their right weather we agree with it or not. I am sure there are more than a few customers who closed their accounts today at BoA. The sad thing is that BoA is making a lot of money off the Marine Corps as every Marine has a government travel charge card they have to use when traveling on official duty and BoA is the issuing bank.

My condolences to the family.

My condolences to the family and those who loved Chris.

I can't believe BOA acted in such a way, shame on them. As a DoD civilian employee, I work for the Marine Corps ( 26 years) and the GCC program was administered by BOA but as of a couple of years ago is now administered by Citi Bank. Just wanted to let you know.

Re: Chris Fowlkes

Condolences. IMO BOA's actions are nothing out of the ordinary for them. Their actions follow a long line of policies that are unethical and offensive. I quit doing business with them about four years ago.

Bank of America it seems works harder than many other companies at being Politically Correct. In this case it backfires with my peer group.

Rest easy Marine, Your duty is done and your God will watch over you now. God has your six.

------------------------------------------------

The following is a poem by Lance Corporal Jason Gerstner, USMC

FINAL INSPECTION

The Marine stood and faced his God, which will always come to pass.

He hoped his shoes were shining, just as brightly as his brass.

Step forward now you Marine, how shall I deal with you?

Have you always turned the other cheek and to my church been true?

The Marine squared his shoulders and said, “No, Lord, I guess I ain’t,

Cause those of us who carry guns can’t always be a saint.

I’ve had to work on Sundays and at times my talk was tough,

And sometimes I’ve been violent cause the world is awfully rough.

But I never took a penny that wasn’t mine to keep,

Though I worked a lot of overtime when the bills just got too steep,

And I passed a cry for help though at times I shook with fear,

And sometimes, God, forgive me, I wept unmanly tears.

I know I don’t deserve a place among the people here.

They never wanted me around except to calm their fears.

If you’ve a place for me here, Lord, it needn’t be so grand.

I never asked or had too much. If you don’t, I’ll understand.

There was silence all around the throne, where saints had often trod,

As the Marine waited quietly for the judgment of his God.

Step forward now, you Marine. You’ve borne your burdens well.

Walk peacefully on heaven’s streets. You’ve served your time in hell.
