met their maker

husband and wife on their way home Friday night on their bike. Van crosses center line hits them head-on, both killed instantly. Guy in the van was not hurt, he was "eating". And you thought you had to worry about drunks and cell phones. I know the woman has a son will be a senior in high school this fall. His dad was also killed in a car accident a few years back. Can only imagine how he feels.

Re: met their maker

No excuse for this kind of stuff. (said it that way because what I want to say will get me throwed out of here) I hope the driver in the van goes to jail for life and had nightmares everynight of his wotrthless life. For those of you who say I am too harsh; forget it. There is no excuse and I can't stand people who talk on phones, text or other dumb things while driving putting us all in danger. If your going to drive then drive. Don't risk my family's, my friends and my life. They have no right to do so. I feel sorry for anyone who even fender benders me if they are on a phone or "Eating". I don't even know this guy and I hate him. There, I feel a little better.

Re: met their maker

dlao, where was this accident at? I'm sure he'll get a ticket and some sort of minor charge, as they always do with biker/vehicle crashes with deaths. I just don't get it.

Re: met their maker

Local news Grafton, N.D. said a head-on collision between a minivan and a motorcycle in Walsh County left a St. Thomas couple dead and a Grafton man injured. The crash occurred shortly after 6:30 p.m. 52-year-old Bryant Watts and 46-year-old Cynthia Watts were southbound on a motorcycle on U.S. Highway 81 and both died in the crash.

The minivan driver, 38-year-old John Klava of Grafton, was injured in the collision. He was taken to Altru Hospital in Grand Forks where he was treated and released. The report said they were investigating the crash and no details were being released yet.

Re: met their maker

That's an appalling story and I feel so very sorry for the loved ones left behind. It's the whole problem of "cocooning" when in a cage - you're very cut off from the world outside if you're not careful and you're in charge of a heavy and fast lethal weapon. Paying more attention to stuffing his mouth than looking at the road, from what I read - it's so wasteful of life....

Just MHO but I think we really have to have our wits about us so much when riding - personally, I will NEVER have any Blue Tooth device inside my lid for music, radio or, worst of all, cell phone. This is digressing from the tragedy of this thread, but I don't think we can afford distractions when on our motorbikes - there are enough crazy, chatty or hungry people out there in cars happy enough to whack us
