The story of another hero finally finding a resting place was great, some of the comments, well beyond comprehension I would prefer not to think that people are this selfish and coldhearted .

When you get right down to it, those with the largest mouths usually have the smallest eyes. If ever there was a reason to reinstitute the draft, maybe not for just military service, but service to this country...maybe now is the time. Seems a lot of wonderful people learned how to grow up and become adults as a result of their conscripted service. Better than hanging out and wasting time. Ok, I'm off the soap box now. Welcome home flyboy and thank you.

Re: Lt. Woodie McVay WWII pilot

After the mission me and a local stopped at a quick stop to top our tanks and get something cold to drink. The cashier was a young lady maybe very early twenties or so. She asked if we part of the group that passed by about an hour earlier. We were and she asked what we were doing. I explained who, what and why. The why part she didn't get....Respect. The younger people, bar our fighting forces have no concept of what respect is or means to us, the "older" generation.

An as Forrest Gump said...That's all I'm gonna say about that.

Sometimes when I read things like the responses to the McVay article, I like to think that some of the responders are just people who like to bust chops and start conflict. I like to think that no one can be that stupid to fail to understand that the very freedoms they enjoy, like the freedom to be an idiot for all to see, was secured by the actions of McVay and millions of fellow veterans, since the inception of this great country. I like to think that, but alas, I know that there are millions of Americans out there who literally don't have a clue.......
