What is BPA?
Bisphenol-A is an ingredient used to make polycarbonate. In recent months, there has been increasing consumer demand for a bottle that is not made with Bisphenol-A (BPA), and CamelBak is proud to introduce BPA-free bottles with the same great properties customers have come to expect from polycarbonate: vibrant color, clarity, durability, dishwasher-safe, and with no residual taste. As of the end of April 2008, the entire CamelBak bottle line will be available in BPA-Free materials in North America.

What are phthalates?
Phthalates (pronounced thal-ates) are a component added to some plastics to make them soft and pliable. None of CamelBak's bottles have ever contained phthalates.

What is the BPA-free Better Bottle made from?
The CamelBak Better Bottle line is made from a new copolyester polymer called Tritan, made by Eastman. It offers the same great qualities that we have come to expect from polycarbonate bottles and is 100 percent BPA-Free. The Big Bite Valve is made of medical-grade silicone for long life and taste-free performance.

About CamelBak
CamelBak is the originator and world leader in hands-free hydration systems. The first CamelBak products proved to be very popular among mountain bikers and motocross riders, because it allowed them to drink without taking their hands off of the handlebars in technical terrain. The product began to cross over into other sports when scientific studies showed athletes drank more fluids and performed better when they wore a CamelBak. Since then, athletes from an ever-growing list of sports and activities use CamelBak hydration systems for their convenience and performance benefits.

In addition to cycling, CamelBak has Hands-Free Hydration systems for hiking, running, snowboarding and skiing. CamelBak's state-of-the-art packs and hydration systems have benefited athletes, outdoorsmen, and soldiers around the world. While CamelBak has grown tremendously since the early days, one thing hasn't changed: CamelBak still believes in the performance advantage that proper hydration delivers for just about any activity. The privately-held company is headquartered in Petaluma, California.

Great!!!!

I use these water bottles for my kids who are 3 years and 17 months old. They love them and drink so much water. Way better than a sippy cup!

Love this bottle
By AC (Bay Area, California)  |  November 17, 2009
I have two of them. I love that it has a straw so I don't have to tip my head back to drink when I'm working out, etc. Awesomeness.

The standard size one I have doesn't fit in my car's cup holder though which bums me out. Plus, when they tip on their size, they leak a bit. So often, I have water drips and puddles around my car.

Don't like the drinking valve
By Mollie Garden  |  November 15, 2009
I straw works well in this bottle, and I like the handle on the top, but I really dislike the valve to drink out of. It's too big. I took the rubber piece off, which helps, but now the drinking piece is a bit short and is hard plastic.

Pretty good, but...
By Cecil (southeast U.S.)  |  November 15, 2009
I was so happy to see a BPA free version of these bottles, and was given one for Christmas last year. I use it every day--love the holder thing, and like the design, but... Right after I got it, the little plastic thing that helps you flip up the rubber bite thing broke off. I'm hard on my bottles, which is why stainless steel doesn't work for me--it gets all bent up. So of course when I drop my bottles or bump them around the bit, the straw gets dislodged easily. I frequently have to open the thing and reach my hand in to reattach the straw. Not sure this is always totally sanitary. As mentioned earlier, the shape makes it fall out of every cupholder in every car--pretty annoying especially because it's not totally water tight!! Also, water does pool at the top with even the slightest pressure changes. I frequently end up with a small water puddle on my lap. Finally, a minor sort of funny thing is that if anyone wants to share your water, it's a little weird for them to have to bite down and all that... unless they unscrew it and then you have the possibility of a dislodged straw again... I wouldn't get this again. It's not such a big deal for me to tip the bottle to drink out of it.
