HDTalking Shopping Product Description

As a result, you not only gain strength, trim, and tone, but also improve your balance and coordination along the way. In addition, Bosu training helps strengthen the mind, with thoughtful movement that requires the participant to not only be physically involved, but also "here and present" with the mind fully engaged. By combining physical and mental focus, Bosu training will boost your performance across a wide continuum of activities, including sports, recreation, and daily tasks.

At the heart of the 3D system is a multipurpose, modular exercise platform with a balance ball surface in the middle. The platform serves as an exercise base by itself, but also attaches to an included balance bar and adjustable resistance tubing to give you even more workout flexibility. The balance bar makes the 3D System more accessible to beginners, but also encourages seasoned Bosu users to create a more varied and versatile workout program. The system also includes a workout program on DVD.

About BOSU
Invented by David Weck, the BOSU Balance Trainer debuted in 2000 and quickly became one of the most successful fitness training products on the market. Originally, the name "BOSU" was an acronym for Both Sides Up. It meant that the BOSU Balance Trainer could be used on either side, the dome or the platform. Today, the term BOSU has evolved beyond the product to now mean Both Sides Utilized, a mindful approach to exercise that is a step beyond traditional training. This clarity of who BOSU is and what they want to offer inspired the development of additional BOSU products and programming, all of which are grounded in exercise science and proven in real-life application.

BOSU Training is about expanding movement capabilities, reshaping bodies, and strengthening minds. It's about inserting thought into movement, being physically involved, and also being present and fully engaged in the training process. BOSU's products are known industry-wide for training balance, enhancing flexibility, and delivering killer cardio workouts. They have an unprecedented reputation for building strength and fine tuning skills for sport. But on their own, BOSU products are just molded plastic, weighted rubber, and stability balls with secret filling. You have to engage them in order to bring them to life! So, beyond their products, BOSU offers a system of mindful action, intentional movement, and smart science that produces results.

The BOSU training approach makes certain that when you get on the BOSU Balance Trainer or move with the BOSU Ballast Ball, you will get everything from a feel-good, get-fit, no-regrets training tool. Even more than that, you get an intelligent training method that transcends any piece of fitness equipment.

The BOSU is GREAT!!!
By Joe (Maryland suburbs of D.C.)  |  February 27, 2010
I ordered the BOSU on 1/8/10 and it arrived on 1/12/10. Very good service, Amazon! The exercise capability is even better than what my wife read or imagined it would be. She uses it twice a day and has watched the included DVD twice. She also picked up a couple exercises from looking around on the Web. All-in-all, the equipment is first-rate and went together with only a modicum of "adjusting". Very, very pleased!

Easy to set up. I saw something similar at the gym, but without the bar. I can use this with or without. I got just what I expected. Thank you. Nn

Worth having
By Preston (Tallahassee, FL)  |  February 14, 2010
I have a very high quality elliptical that I like a lot, but the BOSU is nice for the sake of variety. It gives my core muscles significant exercise even when I feel like I'm working on something else, and I'm sure the extra balance training is beneficial.

I agree that putting the base together was surprisingly difficult: parts did not align as easily as they should have, despite my following the directions very carefully. Frankly, the base doesn't have much value to me; I really didn't need the balance assistance even when I started. Also, I haven't yet been able to adjust the length of the rubber straps: I can't get the mechanism to lock, so it just keeps springing open again. It isn't a really big deal (I just move further away from the base to increase the tension), but in principle they ought to work better.

I don't feel that the BOSU gives me as much exercise as my elliptical; certainly my heart rate doesn't get as high. However, it does exercise muscles that wouldn't have gotten much of a workout from the elliptical. Not only is that inherently good, but I have fewer problems with soreness.

So, all in all, I wouldn't characterize myself as a huge BOSU fan, but I'm glad to have it.

Bosu good. Stand.... meh?
By matt fu (seattle, wa)  |  February 11, 2010  | 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Bought this for my wife for her birthday. She had been exercising with a Bosu through a personal trainer and wanted one.
Bottom line, the stand IS sturdy but none of the holes lined up in the stand to assemble it. Had to get creative to make it work.... which it eventually did.
The "pump" that comes with it is just a flat out joke. You have to use a bicycle pump. I can't believe you get charged a dime for the pump when it is utterly & completely worthless.

The Bosu itself is great but make sure you have something to inflate it with!

Great product, great price. Can't beat it with a ball. 5 minutes a day makes the muscle and joint aches go away!
