HDTalking Shopping Product Description

For the ultimate in wireless freedom, look no further than the Plantronics Voyager 510 Bluetooth headset, which represents a generational leap in Bluetooth headset technology. It's comfortable and light enough for all day wear, and it offers unprecedented clarity and sound quality. These are great features, but the real revolution involves Plantronics' exclusive Multipoint technology, which allows the headset to function as a powerful communication solution for up to two Bluetooth devices.

With Multipoint technology you can switch between your voice-enabled Bluetooth mobile phone, PDA or laptop. The headset's "smart" technology knows which device you are using and allows you to take calls from any device at the touch of a button. With the optional Plantronics Bluetooth Deskphone Adapter you can even switch between your office phone and your Bluetooth mobile phone. You'll never need to use a dedicated "landline" phone headset again.

The 510 features WindSmart technology, which enhances call clarity in windy environments (i.e., car with window/roof open, air conditioning on, outside with breeze), and it folds for easy storage. The boom also swivels for perfect positioning on either ear. One-touch call control buttons are placed for easy access, and you can easily redial the last number dialed and initiate voice-activated calls from the headset. Because the 510 is Bluetooth-enabled (it supports the Bluetooth 1.2 specification) you can roam up to 33 feet from your Bluetooth device. Meanwhile, the 510 supports adaptive frequency hopping (AFH) which helps avoid interference from Wi-Fi networks. Ample talk time is provided by the built-in rechargeable battery; you'll get up to 6 hours talk time and up to 100 hours of standby time.

Good, Minor Problem
By bike rider  |  March 13, 2010
Only problem is it doesn't sit down in the ear canal far enough, requiring volume to be increased more than otherwise necessary and causing distortion. Needs to be made so that the curved stalk connecting the part that rests behind the ear and the earspeaker will hold it's shape, positioning the earspeaker closer to ones ear.

Used this for one year-Picks up a lot of background noise-
By Betty A. Davis (san jose, CA)  |  March 12, 2010
It picks up a lot of background noise...people I call are always complaining that they can't hear me well and I end up having to switch to phone mode and then they can hear me well. The thicker part that goes behind your ear can be quite large and uncomfortable. It comes with an assortment of ear buds (different sizes) they tend to unscrew and fall off; it still works without an ear bud but very uncomfortable.

Surprisingly good

Bought the first of these unit form my 40 year old son who is an over-the-road truck driver. He had owned a Motorola headset before but it had muffled microphone audio at times and at times was difficult to understand him. He wanted a headset with a very long boom microphone and I bought this unit for him thinking it was what he wanted (Plantronics). It wasn't the unit he wanted, but he was very happy with it. The sound pick up is very natural and very quiet. This is important because in a truck environment, there are lots of other noises. This Voyager provides excellent voice clarity without picking up a lot of background noise. I believe that it has a microphone silensing circuit or VOX circuit in it, because if my son pauses in talking, the mic seems to go completely quiet. I believe that if it is not detecting voice or ambient noise, then it completely cuts off. You start to think that you might have lost the call becasue it get so quiet, but if you ask him something, it turns right back on. Its actually a very nice feature. It is also different because it has the larger behind the ear electronics module. However, he found that this kept it anchored on his ear better than the much smaller Motorola. He liked it so much, and I liked what it sounded like so much that I bought myself one, and I find it to be a very good bluetooth headset. It is very comfortable in the car, which is where I tend to use it. I also find that the ear piece stays in my ear canal much better than the much lighter Motorola did. I really like this Voyager 510 from Plantronics. I find it ideal for my uses. It does fight with an auto-based bluetooth system such as Microsoft SYNC in Ford products and I have found that you have to use one or the other system, but it wont tolerate both.
My one complaint with the Plantronics Voyager is that the on off switch is very tiny and difficult to use (you have to press it 3 seconds to turn the unit on or off), so I leave it on all the time, and turn the bluetooth transmitter in my cell phone on and off rather than trying to do on the Voyager.

Great Bluetooth !!
By M. Fincannon (FL)  |  March 9, 2010
I bought this product for a birthday gift for my friend. He drives a standard car and it's a safety hazard to be on the phone while driving, especially trying to shift gears. He opened it yesterday, charged it and was using it in a manner of minutes. Very simple to setup and I can hear him clearly...doesn't sound like he is in a tunnel. The quality is very good. I was skeptical about getting a blue tooth because I hadn't gotten much feedback from anyone until my sister got this one and recommended it to me. Good product and not too expensive.

So far so good
By gatorJ (Omaha, NE)  |  March 8, 2010
This is the first bluetooth I have owned and I bought it about a week ago. so far I have had only one problem, I cannot get the earpiece I put on off. it comes with 3 different earpieces and I wanted to try all 3 but I cannot get the first one I put on off. now this is not a big deal because I like the one I put on just fine. actually I like it a lot. but I am curious how the other 2 feel.
but overall a very good piece of technology. I can get about 15 feet from my phone and in my pocket it works great. nobody I have talked to on it even realized I was on a bluetooth. so no real complaints at all! definitely worth the sale price!
