Defective out of the box

I purchased this based on price and that should have been the first tip off. Package arrived today, and the handle did not lock in the raised position, even after repeated attempts. I have used similar hand trucks before by different manufacturers, and I own several Magliners for my small business. I was looking for something compact to take packages in my car to the post office. The footplate is well made, the wheels look fine, but the plastic folding joints are also stiff and do not facilitate easy unfolding/folding - not only the handle is stiff but the wheel/footplate coupling as well. I realize it is quite possible that I got a defective unit and other units could be fine. However, my experience with quality control these days is that the odds are, you get a defective unit the first time, you'll get get a defective unit the second time. I would recommend this only for someone needing a hand truck very sporadically. For more frequent use, something sturdier and better made (and therefore more money) would fit the bill.

This hand truck is very useful. I have used it only a few times but it does the job that its intended for. I have had no problems with it so far. It is handy for someone who needs a hand truck but does have the space for a regular non-folding type.

I ordered this item to replace a previous one from a differenct mfgr. I gave that one to family members who were moving. The first time I tried to use this cart a plastic part broke off. I'm trying to locate the mfgr so I can arrange to return the item.

With in a year, the gear parts on the wheel were shredded. I bought this because of the easy storage. And it was easy to store! I don't need it often, but when I do, it is used for moving refridgerators, stoves and washing machines. The light weight part of this hand truck was fantastic. I would not have bought this had I known the geers were plastic. It did not survive a gravel road. I am now buying something that does not fold up for the work load I need it too carry.
My fault for buying something that had plastic parts. So if you need something for a rougher terrain. This is not what you want.
