Solid, smooth, ergonomic

I use utility knives pretty frequently, and most suffer from clunky construction and rattly parts. This Irwin knife feels much more solid in my hand and is easier for me to handle when focusing on precision cuts. The button/slide for the blade also opens and closes with little effort and is smooth in both directions. Finally, the extra blades are stored inside the body in a clip so they don't rattle around. Overall it's a great knife and is much better to use than the standard design that's been around for years.

I was looking for a cheap box cutter for my volunteer work. We distribute food at a food bank and so this cutter gets a lot of work and I was expecting it to get lost quickly. Everyone loves it since it is easier to spot than other grey/silver box cutters. It has cut a lot of tape, paper, industrial cling wrap, boxes, potato sacks and onion bag.
Used it a few months now and still not lost it amongst the chaos...mainly because of the color even with everyone borrowing it all the time.
Like it!

It works great but when I first got it I had some trouble putting the blade in. You need a screwdriver to open the case, take out one of the blades and put it in. A cheaper one might be preferable for some people.

For some reason or other utility knives have a problem staying home with me. I have always used another well known brand, but when time came to order some to replace my "wandering ones" - and going to Amazon to order, I saw the Irwin advertised and read a couple of the reviews. On the basis of ONE of the reviews, I ordered six of them - and am glad I did. What I had before came with only 1 blade, and you had to work to get the sides apart and back together. Not so with the Irwin. It came with 3 blades, well oiled, and was very easy to install one of them. Not only that, but the knife is slightly curved to give one more pressure and also, for me at least, a more accurate cut. I, like the other reviewer, highly recommend this utility knife.
