Good support on any sort of pavement
By A. Coburngriffis (OH)  |  December 15, 2009
I had switched from NB to Asics after many years of using NB for running. I paid more and more for what seemed less support and durability. After trying on many, more pricey shoes, I ordered these. I was somewhat hesitant because of the low price, but after several weeks of use am quite pleased. I was beginning to have knee and hip problems, but after switching to these shoes they are beginning to subside. The wide sole keeps my foot solidly on the road. I wouldn't recommend them for trail runs, however, as there isn't enough cushioning for that.

A Little Disappointed
By Ms. Piggy (St. Louis, MO)  |  November 5, 2009  | 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
I like the new Balance tennis shoes that I bought, they are very comfortable. Before purchasing them over the internet I went to a shoe store that handles the same shoes to make sure I had the correct size. After receiving my shoes and trying them on they were too small. I had to send them back to get the next size up. Unfortunately I could have purchased the shoes at a store cheaper than it cost me to purchase them at Amazon. I was very disappointed at that. I had to pay for the shipping to get them and then I had to send them back and it cost me another 23.00. The shoes only cost 54.00. I do not think I will ever purchase shoes on Amazon in the future.

Runs A Whole Size Too Small
By P. Gray (Reno, NV USA)  |  November 3, 2009  | 8 out of 8 found this review helpful
I bought these shoes for hiking and trail running and usually wear a size 8.5. Never having owned a pair of New Balance shoes, ordered an 8.5. They were way too small so I sent them back and had to pay for shipping. My toes were crushed against the front the shoe. But the price was great so I decided to give it another try and ordered a 9.5. I got them today.

What I like about them is all of the support and cushion in the front of the shoes for the balls of my feet-- something that Adidas shoes (the brand I've been wearing for years) lack. I also like the price, style and color so I'm going to keep them.
What I don't like is the fit. I think that I have an average foot--medium in the front with average heel and ankle size-- but the 9.5 seems too large in the heel and ankle areas and a 9 wouldn't provide enough room up front. I ordered the Gray & Green so maybe the fit varies by color since no one else seemed to mention the issues that I am having or maybe they are used to the NB fit. If you are like me, I recommend ordering a whole size larger if your usual size is a solid size like mine is (for example if you wear a size 8.5 and it usually fits perfectly) or a half size larger if your usual size varies down (for example if you wear an 8-8.5). Hope this helps and good luck!

I tried these shoes on in a store so I knew what size I would need. They didn't have these colors but I got them so much cheaper! I saved $30!!!! I really recommend these to anyone who is an outdoors type of person!
