Editorial Reviews
Product Description
The ultra-compact ZIPKA PLUS 2 headlamp is equipped with the ZIP retractable cord system. This feature allows the headlamp to be worn on the head or wrist, or attached to any other support, like a tent pole, a bicycle seat post, etc. This headlamp integrates two light sources for versatility: one white, high-output LED and one red LED. The white LED delivers 50 lumens in maximum mode and lights up to 35 meters. In economic mode, it can reach a burn-time of 140 hours. The red LED provides lighting to preserve night vision or to become a blinking light for increased safety, for example in an urban environment, etc. Type of lighting (white or red) is selected by pressing for two seconds on the push-button (the last mode used remains in the memory until the next use). The ZIPKA PLUS 2 can be used with lithium batteries to decrease weight or increase performance in cold weather. 3AAA alkaline batteries included. 71g with batteries.

My new favorite headlamp

I own a handfull of headlamps, including Petzl's Myo RXP, an old Black Diamond, and several other random headlamps I've collected. This is now my go-to headlamp. The retractable cord is fantastic. I really like being able to wrap it around my arm, tree limbs, poles, or whatever. Might not be great for runners, but it fits comfortably around my head and doesn't fall out of place. The beam is bright enough without blinding. I don't normally use the strobe, but the strobe effect on this is much more "strobe" like and not just on/off blinking than any other light I've used. The red lamp is another great feature and I use the red beam about 25% of the time now. The light doesn't tilt, but beam is enough of a flood that it hardly matters to me.

A very good headlamp from Petzl. The cord head band can be a bit uncomfortable on extended usage but the product is excellent overall. I have not had it for a long time now so I no comments on reliability and durability. The switch can be pressed wearing gloves, and the zip cord allows it to be strapped anywhere. Very bright! The only thing missing is the ability to tilt the light.

I am a tenured user of these lights, and they are well worth the money. This light has the red LED mode and does flashing and on all the time in that mode. Otherwise it has no advantage over the 4 led model (which is cheaper). It actually seems slightly less bright than the 4 LED in white mode. The red light (which is only one bulb, contrary to how it looks) is very dim but enough to walk home if your eyes were adjusted. More important distinction is to buy the push button model (this one or the 4 led), the slide switch on the (even cheaper still) 3 LED model wears out over time.
Great compact & lightweight lamp

We have cheaper head lamps but this one is definately the best. I like that it is lightweight and that it packs small. The run-time and luminance are better I got the Petzl carry case for it and this is a very accessory.
The unit cannot tilt to adjust the beam position, however, I haven't really needed to do that at all.
Well worth the price.
Best headlamp hands down

While I did say best, I did not say the brightest, so if you are looking for a super-expensive, waste of money, power draining, niche headlamp then go elsewhere. This lamp clearly has the smallest footprint by incorporating the headband into a retractable piece of string that reduces size and weight for the most functional, compact design seen. By using what I suspect is some sort of Lumileds or Cree LED, brightness is tolerable and power consumption minimal. Based on the way that humans perceive light, I believe the only way to make these products brighter would be to considerably increase the power consumption and if you feel you need that much light, then stay at home and use the power in your house. Comfortable fit, innovative strap design, with low power consumption for the amount of brightness.
