Xied's for my bagger
I bought a set of night rider XIED's. to find out if the hipe was true or not.
I had read were they drop engine temps as much as 50 degree and made the bike run like it had two engines. Ordered a set and read what Nightrider had to say. They claim a small temp reduction and a small preformace boost. Claimed that Air to fuel would go from 14.7:! to 13.8:1. And that they work in the closed loop from idle to 4000 Rpms. I ran my bike A 2007 Roadglide STOCK with about 16,000 miles on it at the time for almost 2000 miles running the same trips with them on and off. Heres what I found. Cooler temps as measured with therm gun very small reduction and short lived but did cool quicker once moving agin. Roll on in 6th gear was stronger Bike felt stronger at all times Bike sounds deeper not a lot but a deeper tone. droped a couple miles to the gallon over all. Install in 10 minutes and anyone can do it. I had not planned on keeping them on. After removing them a week latter I put them back. I found that I liked them for what they did for my bike. IMO and I stress it is MO. Xieds work well for a stock bike that you want to enrich a bit so you sleep well. They do give the bike a little kick you must decide it is worth the 100 dolars. I now have 22,000 miles on the bike and plan to keep them on the bike. They are not a replacement for correct downloads and or fuel manager on a moded bike. I strongly feel that if you going to Mod the bike do it right. Short cuts cause pain. I leaned that years ago. Xieds do about what Nighterriders says they will. On a scale of 1 to 10 I give them an 8. They are so easy to install or unistall find someone that has them try them on your bike befor you buy If your thinking about them.

Re: Xied's for my bagger
I hae pretty much found out what smitty Did but will also say with just a K&N filter the stock replacement its fine but add the SE pipes even though Nightrider says it should be fine it feels like it has leaned back out towards stock again

Xieds simply fool the O2 senor so any fuel change it makes it does the same acrosse the board. Nothing wrong with the small change it makes on a stock engine maybe even ok on a pipe change or just AC but not both. Reason being you can change pipes or AC with out a download either. The concern Ihave with trying to use Xieds to make up for a stage one is this. What if your are wrong, the damge it could do far out wieghts the price of a TFI. Second concern you do a stage one to get more out of your bike. If you go with the short cut and use Xied's you save 150 maybe 200 dollars over a TFI. But you will Not get the full advantage of the stage one and the TFI, so you could easly end up spending more on mods to get what you expected from the stage one. Just the way I see it.

Re: Xied's for my bagger
Thanks for the come back Smitty.
My '07 FXSTC (2000 mi) runs crappie unless you get on the throttle. It's stock and I keep my bikes that way. I like a smooth quiet running machine ( old fart style riding) I'm taking in for the "0903: PRD PGM:TORQUE SMOOTH CALIBRN" then I'll decide what's the next step if it doesn't satisfy my type of riding. Al I'm not nosey I just want to know |

"0903: PRD PGM:TORQUE SMOOTH CALIBRN"
Not worth the trip to the dealer. Caused pinging at along with the surging. I installed XIED14 kits it stopped the ping and reduced the surging about 80%. It runs stronger and sounds different but still has the "light throttle" surging. The Thunder Max EFI is next. shame isn't it. Al |

Re: Xied's for my bagger
I had a lot of engine ping until I installed the Xied’s. Noise level dropped so much that if I had not already got the IDS, I would have passed. But I already got the IDS so I had it installed.
The engine and exhaust is stock and I run 93 octane gas, so I do not know why I had so much pinging. The Xied and IDS was the best money I’ve spent on the bike.

It did not take long to find out they did but in limited uses. On my 2009 when HD did the 9003 updated download the sound I thought were caused by not installing an IDS also went away. I now have 22,000 miles on the bike with XIED's installed the bike is otherwise Stock. They serve me well. I still want to make it clear I do not beleave they can or should replace a proper download and or fuel manger like a TFI on a bike thats has had any mods done to the engine. Once you change pipes and or AC the bike will need more than a bandade like the Xied's.

Re: Xied's for my bagger
