Catalytic Mufflers - 850 days old
The left side of the pic is the outlet end of the muffler, Both ends were removed because it was just easier to get it apart this way. The solid part at the right of the pic is the catalyst.
The new 09 bikes have the cat located in the forward pipe so slip on mufflers can be used and still retain the catalytic converter.

Muffler Squeaks - 775 days old
Many of the touring bikes at one time or another will experience a squeaking coming from the rear of the bike when hitting some bumps.You'll also see that there is some play in the rubber mount where the support bracket (muffler) can move up and down a bit, this is normal.

Muffler Leaks - 377 days old
Some have posted about having a leak where the muffler joins the pipe area an could not figure out what to do to correct this. Here's a few Ideas to deal with this situation.
If you suspect an exhaust leak and are trying to locate it, this works pretty well.
Put on some heavy gloves and start the motor up.

As posted by DocSledge, this is an excellent post and give you an idea of the differences in volume with or without baffles with db readings
Measure sound pressure levels at 1 meter from source to get accurate reading. Probably should be more toward the back instead of just to the side. Done at idle (warm) and maybe 2500rpm.

02 Sensor Plugs - 730 days old
Some exhaust systems have the bung for the 02 sensors and the question comes up about what size and thread are they.
You can find plugs at NAPA stores, #35299 will work great to plug the bungs.
