As far as driving in my car, I have carried for the last 20 years 100% of the time and I have never had to shoot back or get into a gun battle.
If I ever do, I hope my target is REAL BIG because my aim is terrible!

I answered, no I haven't had to use it (that's a good thing)

carrying guns into a situation that possibly gets you mad (ever gotten mad at someone?) is the same thing..
What keeps you from getting mad and clubbing someone with your tool?

I use self control and the law. There are prescribed times when I am justified in using lethal force. Getting mad is not one of them.

I don't see how not carrying a gun could possibly make it safer for me then carrying one.

It comes down to having the right to defend myself. I choose to take that matter into my own hands. I won't wait around for someone to come and do it for me.

Re: Anyone Carry while riding

I have always carried my Glock 27 and now looking for something smaller and lighter. Does anyone here carry the Smith & Wesson 360 or 442?

I can legally carry concealed in NC & reciprocal states. Sometimes I carry & sometimes I don't... I like having that freedom ! I pray that we don't loose that... if we do I guess I'll be illegal...

Amen to that. I ride at night 40% of my total riding. If I break down you never know what crackpots are out there.

Re: Anyone Carry while riding

Okay, here's a personal real-life incident as has been asked for by our friend from Belgium. It happened while I was driving my truck but it could have just as easily been my bike. As a bit of background, I spent my professional life as a paramedic and law enforcement officer. I strongly advocate people getting handgun licenses. I came out of a grocery store and approached my truck late at night. I saw that the passenger side door was open and someone was inside. I quietly set my bag down and addressed the pair of legs I could see with "Evening!" A young gentleman bounced out of my truck with a knife in hand. He had been in the process of attempting to hotwire my truck. I said "Easy, amigo. That's a deadly weapon you have there." He replied, "Yeaah, scary ain't it?" I drew my handgun and said "Just makes the pee run all down your leg, doesn't it?" The last I saw of him he was running into a government housing project that was next to the grocery store and I was the proud owner of a new knife.

This isn't a fabrication. There were two times in my life that a handgun prevented bad things from happening. Once was the incident that I just described and the other happened when I was working as a uniformed deputy sheriff. I envy anyone who lives in a place where they can be fully confident that they will never need to defend themselves. That place isn't Texas. I have a small handgun in my pants pocket as I write this. I'm currently the Bailiff to the Grand Juries in my home county. I hear on a daily basis what goes on around here.
