To me, the ultimate rifle for the gun nut is the 50 cal. Who knows, maybe someday I'll be able to find one that I can afford. If you are interested in 50's you might try this website, www.fcsa.org for info on 50's. It is a 50 cal club that I used to be a member of.

I wouldn't mind firing one of those myself sometime.
It's a real sweetheart of a rifle. Really good balance, low recoil, John C. Garand had it right when he designed the m1.

I dont collect, but I love this gun bc I love the history and heritage of WW2....But I have a Soviet Mosin 90/32....I think thats what its called at least, it was made in 1943, and has a Soviet stamp right on it.

I have a soviet m91/30 and the m1 garand. The garand is a lot less punishing than the m91/30.

Re: Any Military hardware enthusiasts

I collect military weapons almost exclusively. I have some as old as my 1873 trapdoor springfield and as new as my FN fs2000 with a few fudd guns sprinkled in for good measure. sorry about the pics being too big guys I removed them and won't be posting anymore since I apparently screwed up the board (on accident though)....

Re: Any Military hardware enthusiasts

I'm kinda thinking about finding myself a 30-40 kraig rifle. I may just be spinning my wheels though.

Bought a surplus M1 Garand from the Civilian Marksmanship Program (CMP). It is really in nice condition and shoots nicely. Got to shoot it more often!!!

I have an addiction!!!
That is the best deal now on MilSurp rifles and ammo. Mosin/Nagants are hardy robust rifles. And, cheap to buy and shoot. For now.
Garands ,03s,M1As,.30 carbines are the best but cost an arm, leg and one lung.

Re: Any Military hardware enthusiasts

I have not been weapon shopping in years. The reason is at this point in life i already own just about any that I want. I have had no reason to go to a gun show or even look much at any for some time.
A few weeks back Ijust happen to be next to a Sports gun shop with a friend and some time to kill so in we went.
I need to look at a few more when I have time because if the prices they had in there are for real I make some great investments. What I am getting at is the prices for many of the weapons has gone nuts. I have a new HD in a box I have not open in years.
I was given my M1 at a time when they did not bring much anyway. they wanted 1200 for the same M1. I could go on about each one but you get my point.
