Re: 9mm shooters
Hi Power, or Hi Point? Not familiar with the hi-power, that doesn't mean much though. I'm only a little ahead on gun knowledge than the harley knowledge..;) I shot a hi-point some, don't own one, this one worked okay for me.

Re: 9mm shooters
9MM is a joke

Re: 9mm shooters
I really don't care for the 9mm all that much. It is a fun round but it just simply lacks something. I find the "bang" that my .45 makes a lot more satisfying.

Re: 9mm shooters
I like shooting all kinds of handguns. The 9mm wouldn't be my choice for personal protection. If that would be my case, I would definitely choose one of my 45 autos. I like shooting for fun and the caliber isn't important to me, but for protection, that would be another matter.

Re: 9mm shooters
If you've seen my post, I have a lot of firearms and each has it's merits and area of best suitability. Most who dismiss the 9mm have bigger hands, so the large frame 1911 is a great choice. The 9mm will snug into the smaller hand better,,and more importantly faster,, so the 40% first round kill factor "government study for what it's worth",, is negated by the time factor of the extra time for the shooter with a small hand to get griped up on a larger frame, add in of course hizer to the small hand due to the grip now on the thumb ball and not in the joint and no wonder you get 40%. Hence, 15 rounds and I reccomend useing at least half of them. I'd like my 1911, but it's fully modified and most won't spent 1,500 for mods. Considering most defence situations require emergency, fast actions on the part of the shooter,, pick a gun that fits your hand, draws quick and points well requardless of calibur,, can't hit with what you can't shoot well. If time is no factor,, I'd use my AR11 or mini14 and wait.

Re: 9mm shooters
I agree the 9mm is a bit on the weak side, my understanding is most of the special opps guys and most police depts. have gone to something with more knock down power, and nothing beats a 45 ACP for that.
As for myself I still like lager frame revolvers, if i can't hit it with 6 shots I should be at home tending to my flower beds or something. Usually carry a Ruger 357 double action or a S&W 44 special. Just for fun take a few old wet telephone books and shoot them with a 9mm, 10mm, 38 special, 357, 44 special, 44 mag etc. and look at the difference. Also doing the same into and old car in a junk yard. A real eye opener. Did the old car thing years ago into a 56 Buick, (back when they were worth nothing), and you will see why the cops have given their 9mm to there wives. |

Re: 9mm shooters
I carried and used a 9mm. The only reason Army went to 9mm was NATO.
It is worthless window dressing. Maybe a fun target shooter on weekends at best.
