45 auto shooters

One of my first handguns was a Colt 1911-A1. I still have it and I have bought a few other 45's since then. How many here like to shoot a 45 auto?

Re: 45 auto shooters

I had an original 1911 A1,Tuned it a little, shot good target, and went on to practical pistol comps, never did very well, too many racing guns about, had a S&W MOD 39,AND A MOD 27,but the "old govment .45"was always my favorite. Then along came that prat Toni (ban IT,then the problem will go away)Blair and Dunblane happened. Now all I have is a few rifles and some great memories.(for the time being anyway)

Re: 45 auto shooters

I used to carry a Ruger large frame .45, but that darn thing felt like I was toting around a cannon or something. Switched years ago to a Glock .40 and have been very happy with it.

Re: 45 auto shooters

Got 2, first was a gift from a paranoid boss, stainless steel comander model which are a little lighter frame. Shoots great, I never did anything other than plinking at the range but is very accurate.

2nd was from a relative who was a officer in the army and carried it in Korea for 4 years. Chrome with pearl handles, very nice looking. I never have fired that one out of respect for what it represents.

I shot a few others brands and calibers but I prefer the Colt 45 ACP.

Re: 45 auto shooters

I use a llama 1911 clone for my combat pistol matches. After the trigger job, feed ramp polishing, and the extractor work the thing has never let me down. Not too bad for a cheap 1911. I really don't have a grand to waste on a gun that I won't use to put food on the table.

Re: 45 auto shooters

I have a Springfield 45 micro compact. Small frame fits me well, shoots nice, not too much of a handful. I cut a tree down at our farm one afternoon. 150 rounds through it, I was having some fun there. Needed fire wood for the burn pit, dead tree close by .

try the Ruger P345D...polamer(sp) body w/stainless receiver and slide...very light...decock feature, lockable...very nice...only drawback is only a 8 round clip...but my thinking is if you can't hit something with 8...learn to run...and use it as a paperweight...

cobra enterprises .45 patriot.
cheap gun but good company they really stand behind there product with a lifetime warrranty no matter who owns the gun.
when i bought mine they only cost a little over $250.00 i got it for $200.00 but now they are running around $330.00 i think for that cash might as well go with a better choice that might be only 50- 200 more.
