Re: 45 auto shooters

I'm like Richard, My Ruger 45 is next to my bed and if someone tries to get into my house the dog will wake me but I differ from Rich in the respect that the last thing an intruder will see is the muzzel flash from my Ruger
In Iowa they frown on water pistols...I can't imagine what they would say about the Marine Ka-bar next to my seat...

Absolutely love the 1911 .45 - I love my full size Springfield Armory Loaded. It is one of the sweetest shooting .45s I've ever owned.

I shoot a small Taurus .45 auto and a llama. I like the taurus because it fitls in my back pocket and is fairly accurate.

I have four .45 ACPs. A full size Llama 13 rounder, Charles Daly compact, Taurus PT 145 and a Smith and Wesson 25-2. Although the S&W is a revolver it shoots .45ACP. Yeah, I guess I like .45ACP.

Re: 45 auto shooters

I'm actually split...while I agree that the 1911 is a classic, often imitated handgun that is both functional and accurate, I believe the .45 ACP round is overkill and not practical in either a combat or self defense caliber.

My everyday CCW and home protection is a .40 S&W made by Taurus as an automatic. If I ever have to use it I'm not worried a bit about stopping whomever as it's not going to be a fun time for him/her/them.

I wish the US Military had never gone to the 9mm NATO caliber...they are useless in a combat situation and I've had to use them and it's not a good feeling wondering if you are going to stop whomever is in your sights. It is underpowered for modern combat and the full metal jacket NATO rounds do not have great penetration characteristics.

Re: 45 auto shooters

I for one have been there done that and think the 45 needs to return to active duty.
You never heard for anyone getting hit 4 times with a 45 and haveing any to say afterwards.
