Re: 45 auto shooters
Username says it all. Carry a Colt LTW Comm & shoot a Colt Gunsite or SA Lonslide (w/comped bbl) in competitions. If it's not a 1911 45acp--I'm not interested. Tracy

Re: 45 auto shooters
It was a sad day when the Army went to The 9mm to make Nato happy.
I remember the day we boxed up the last of them and shipped them off to be destroyed. Clinton would not allow them to be sold. What a waste. The 1911 colt did it's job well and did more damage with one round than a whole clip of 9mm's. Hand guns have limited use in comabt but when used they should stop what they hit, No hand gun does that better than the 1911

Re: 45 auto shooters
I definitely prefer a 1911. My favorite is a Colt Gunsite Pistol. I have other pistols but a 45 is what I trust the most. My pics are at COLT GUNSITE PISTOL 1911 45ACP
And............ I have a theory about bikes and guns that finally helped me justify buying a Harley. Glocks and their clones are like Japanese bikes. They are functional, inexpensive, easy to maintain, relatively new with few after market needs, and generally perfect for the new or casual shooter/rider. They do what they're supposed to do. And that's all. 1911's and Harleys, on the other hand, have a long American history, are relatively expensive, in part due to US labor (which is ok, ok?) require more complicated maintenance, have a plethora of accessories, and are generally more suited to the serious, experienced shooter/rider willing to invest in their use. They also have a certain personality to them that appeals to their owners. I had a long and pleasant experience with a Kawasaki and have nothing bad to say about it, but harbored a desire for a 'Harley' which I couldn't exactly justify. But one day I compared that desire to my feelings about the 1911 and a light bulb went off. I knew I wouldn't ever be content until I at least tried a Harley. And I was right. Anyhow that's MY story and I'm sticking to it........... jeff |

Re: 45 auto shooters
My father had a 1911 that he recieved from a WW1 vet that was our neighbor. He carried it when he was in France. While I was wondering around the States when I was in my 20's he let my nephew take it. I saw this nephew of mine 2 years ago and inquired about the pistol. He told me he had lost it. I think the turd sold it. I would like to own one someday.

Re: 45 auto shooters
Among a few others, I have a Ruger P90 45 that I just added a Crimson Trace laser site to, and while it isn't an expensive or "fancy" weapon, it's my choice for my home protection firearm and stays at my bedside within easy reach. If an intruder gets past Neo, (my very protective German Shepard who sleeps at the front door and wakes up at the drop of a pin), and my home alarm system, and makes it up to our bedroom, that person will truly regret the last thing they ever see, that red dot on their chest!

Re: 45 auto shooters
Ruger P-90 and Springfield V-10 1911 ported. I prefer the Ruger for its safety, Springfield is smaller and easier for carry purposes. Also have a Bernardelli 380 for small backup carry.
