well yes and no , it take me 101.21 sec's to shoot the 4 different situations that where set up. it took some guys half of that or so .but if i can get my times down to the 80's and still stay accurate I'll be happy ...but some people are in it for the game . Im in it because its fun and it's excellent training .. it makes you think under pressure while your ingaugeing targets . so if it ever happens for real training kicks in and it all becomes automatic so to speak

Re: Idpa

We have non sanctioned combat matches at the gun club. It is just an enjoyable experience, good clean fun for an hour or so.

I've been shooting IDPA for about two months. It's a blast for sure. You've got to be accurate for sure. I'm starting to like it better than IPSIC and I've done IPSIC for many years.

Re: Idpa

unless you're shooting the classifier each match, comparing times from one match to the next won't mean much. idpa is sorta graded on the curve. each match is different, however going zero points down is an excellent start. just keep getting smoother while keeping your accuracy and you'll begin to get quicker too.

I've been active in idpa for about 10 years now and I believe everybody gets from idpa what they put into it. if you want to always win you either will sometimes or at least find yourself in an elite group. as for it being training, I think it is pretty weak in that dept but that was never its goal.

there are a lot of good things to be learned from idpa though -- if nothing else it helps sort out what gear is or is not suitable for all day concealed carry and practice in bringing it into play.

Re: Idpa

Personally, I've found going from IPSIC to IDPA to be a bit difficult. I'm so use to reloading while on the move. Retaining a clips etc.. just seems awkward, but I do know why it's done. I do like that we are all using similar stock/carry pistols and equipment. I had to neuter my race gun and buy new holster etc.., but it was worth it. I'm actually enjoying it better even though I don't quite have it together yet. Also, being that ammo is much more expensive, it just makes sense. Sorry to rattle on....my bad.
