Well long story short-I bought a bike from a newspaper ad march 2007, i liked it, loved the paint, the owner told me it was an assembled title. Rode it all summer, then I was stuck at work one night last August, and the feds came knocking (no search warrant). Seems like my scoot was part of a 9 state ring. They identified mt tranny as stolen and took the bike. They have siezed over 50 here in the Ashland area. I was told that i would hear something in the next 3 weeks, well that drug out to 11 months. I got a letter last week saying I wasn't getting mine back. The feds have lied to me and my friends I have met throught this ordeal, they won't return calls (even my so-called victims advocate, who's job is to keep me informed about this case). Finally last week I got through to the agent(thief) in charge and asked for missing paperwork (siezure appeal papers) which I was told he didn't know what I was talking about. Funny every lawyer knows about them. I asked about the parts i had installed, and was told they weren't coming back either. So that's when I called the agent a thief and liar, just like the guys that stole the bike in the first place. So as of right now I am suing the guy I bought it from for my money back. I guess in a way at least I'm a little better off than some of the guys I've met, one has had his bike for over 6 years, another just paid his off and had over 20k worth of paint and extras on it. One guy I met built his bike from the ground up-with reciepts and mso's and they still took his.

So the moral of this story is check the vin # and make sure it is genuine. I've lost so much trust that I won't buy a part off of ebay or from another individual ever again. Not to mention even trust "our" government again either.

Funny thing about this whole ordeal is I got a letter last Oct saying they had made arrests, the names were stuck in my head, so I googled them and found out they had plead guilty to stealing cars, not bikes. The feds can't even get their cases straight!
