Inspritational...Wow
Please read the story below
To think how petty we are to complain about the tiniest things that happen to us on a day to day basis. This is a true story! A son asked his father, 'Dad, will you take part in a marathon with me?'. The father who, despite having a heart condition, says 'Yes'. They went on to complete the marathon together. Father and son went on to join other marathons, the father always saying 'Yes' to his son's request of going through the race together. One day, the son asked his father, 'Dad, let's join the Ironman together.' To which, his father said 'Yes' too. For those who don't know, Ironman is the toughest triathlon ever. The race encompasses three endurance events of a 2.4 mile (3.86 kilometer) ocean swim, followed by a 112 mile (180.2 kilometer) bike ride, and ending with a 26.2 mile (42.195 kilometer) marathon along the coast of the Big Island . Father and son went on to complete the race together. View this race at..... NOW WATCH THIS VIDEO: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Re: Inspritational...Wow
For those that haven't followed this amazing father-son team, they have competed in more marathons and IronMan triathlons (including the mother of all...Hawaii) than you can imagine. Not just a couple. Because most triathlons have minimum times at each transition point, they don't always get to finish. But, it is always an incredibly inspiring story.
You can catch them on TV every once in a while when they televise the Hawaii Ironman. Glad I already called my son today. Have to wish my father a Happy 4th through fond memories only. Thanks for posting!

Re: Inspritational...Wow
I do believe I just saw the first real "Iron Man". Awesome. Thanks for posting that.
On a related note, (sort of), in one of my early bike races, the course was a bear, and totally not the kind of course I preferred. I was whining pretty bad, griping about everything and I would never do that race again etc, and I got passed by a guy with one arm, on a steep uphill, he was riding, I was carrying. I quickly shut up, got on the bike and finished the race. Don't forget to appreciate all you have. |
